Chai de Cilaos (34 Rue des Glycines, Cilaos; % 0262 317969; e contact[at]lechaidecilaos.com; ( 09.00–12.00 & 14.00–17.30 Mon–Sat; wine tasting €5) Grapes were introduced by the French in 1771. Guided tours and a short film (in French) exploring the history of wine production in the Cilaos area. Visitors can taste and buy some of the Vin de Pays de Cilaos wine.

Zafer Lontan (30 Rue de St Louis; % 0262 319421; ( 10.00–12.00, 13.30–17.30, closed Tue all day & Sun afternoon; admission to the art gallery is free; guided museum visit adult/child €5/4) Within lies an interesting display of artefacts from the area, charting the history of Cilaos up to 200 years ago. Of particular interest are the recreation of a Creole kitchen and living area, slave chains and a gun used to hunt runaway slaves. There is also a projection room where you can watch 1950s cartoons, on reservation.
