The hotel opened in 2007, in a quiet location perched on the cliffs above Grande Anse. The beach at Grande Anse can be reached via a forest path; it takes about 5mins from the hotel & there is a shuttle bus to bring you back up. Rooms are finished to a high standard (comparable with those seen in Mauritius), with en suite, AC, TV, phone, safe & minibar. There are 2 good restaurants, 2 pools & a fitness centre. The hotel’s trump card is an elegant spa. The beach at Grande Anse is not suitable for swimming & there are no shops or restaurants nearby – for these you can head into St-Pierre which is about 7mins away by car. $$$$

Clever use has been made of little space to create simple, comfortable rooms. Each is equipped with en-suite facilities, AC, TV, phone, Wi-Fi & balcony. Facilities include a good restaurant, a bar with regular live music & some free watersports, such as kayaks & pedaloes. The regular central location, live music & lively restaurant mean this is not a relaxing retreat but it is a convenient place to lay your head after enjoying the town’s famous nightlife. $$$

Near Pierrefonds Airport, within easy reach of the hustle & bustle of St-Pierre, if you have a car. The en-suite rooms are in bungalows scattered in a garden. They are tastefully decorated, clean & have AC, TV, phone, safe & terrace. Rooms equipped for the disabled are available. Facilities include a restaurant, bar & pool. Guests are entitled to one free entry to the Park Exotica $$$

Upmarket guesthouse accommodation in a large house in the residential area of Terre Sainte, a 15min walk from St-Pierre. There are 3 double rooms & 5 suites, each lavishly decorated with a different theme, some Asian, some Italian. Suite Alexandra is my favourite, not just for the name but because it’s a little more understated than those with floor-to-ceiling frescoes. For lovers of Botticelli, the suite named after him offers the opportunity to sit in the bath under the watchful gaze of Venus. There is a pretty garden, pool & jacuzzi but no secure parking. $$$

This small hotel, around a 5min drive from St-Pierre, has undergone numerous changes of management. It has potential, being located on the seafront (no beach here, just rugged black rock), but so far it has not been made into all it could be. The rooms are in bungalows around a small pool, & are equipped with AC, TV & phone. Free Wi-Fi. $$
Shoestring

Cheerful, spotless rooms, with AC & fridge, some with en-suite facilities. There’s a well-equipped shared kitchen, as well as a TV lounge & a small garden. Wi-Fi is available. Security is good & there are 5 parking spots (not secure) for residents. Popular choice for those on a budget & the best of its kind in town. En-suite dbl/sgl from €35/25, dbl/sgl with shared bathroom from €25/16. $
