For a truly unforgettable holiday to the Far East, consider a trip to China and Japan!

Both known worldwide for exquisite architecture and timeless traditions with countless cities to explore, our Personal Travel Experts can create a bespoke itinerary, tailored to the destinations you wish to visit.

Take a look at our favourite cities throughout these two incredible countries for some itinerary inspiration…

Bucket-List Recommendation:

Travel in pursuit of the mesmerising cherry blossom (or “sakura” as you cross the ocean into Japan) as the trees begin to bloom each Spring. Whilst these fragile flowers last just a couple of days, our dedicated holiday experts will carefully find dates and locations to give you the best chance of witnessing this incredible annual event.

Beijing

Elegantly combining innovative architecture with preserved historic locations, Beijing’s unique skyline pays homage to China’s remarkable past whilst embracing cutting-edge advancements. An iconic contribution to Beijing’s skyline is the Temple of Heaven; a must-see for any first-time visitor. We would also recommend a visit to the stunning Summer Palace; an intricate structure which served as a royal retreat in the 1,700’s and a day-trip to the Great Wall of China.

Xi’an

This unmissable destination is home to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors. These beautifully preserved life-sized statues were buried with the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang in an attempt to protect him in the afterlife. As many as 8,000 sculptures were excavated upon their discovery, making this site one of the greatest archaeological finds on record.

Shanghai

This eastern city is truly a treat to explore. With futuristic buildings, traditional gardens, luminescent shopping districts and a selection of delicately decorated temples, be sure to stay in Shanghai for more than one night. Those interested in art and history will marvel at the extensive array of art galleries and museums throughout the city whilst Disney fans will be thrilled with a magical visit to Shanghai Disneyland!

Chengdu

Those dreaming of jade rooftops and exquisite traditional architecture will fall in love with Chengdu. With intimate streets lined with wood carvings and red lanterns, alongside fantastic food and of all the conveniences you would expect from a modern city, this is the perfect place to unwind and indulge. Any “shoppers” in your party will be amazed with the New Century Global Mall; a structure currently holding the title of the world’s largest building with floor area of 1,700,000 square metres! Perhaps the most exciting activity to experience in Chengdu is a visit to the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding; a chance to see these rare and wonderful creatures up-close and to giggle at the mischievous panda cubs.

Tokyo

This neon city is often high on the bucket-lists of wanderlust individuals. From the thrill and organised chaos of Shibuya Crossing to the temples and historic buildings hidden amongst the skyscrapers, Tokyo makes for an incredible holiday destination. Those interested in fashion simply must visit the neighbourhood of Harajuku; known for outrageous and eclectic fashions crafting a new genre of “punk” in the late 80’s. With views of Mount Fuji visible on a clear day, day trips to this iconic natural attraction are certainly available whilst you enjoy your stay in Tokyo.

Osaka

Known as the “Nation’s Kitchen”, Osaka is famous for its endless supply of street food. Walk down the luminescent streets of Dotonbori, wander the manicured gardens of Osaka Castle Park or even visit Universal Studios Japan for some big thrills. This city is also renowned for the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan; an attraction currently holding the title of the World’s Largest Aquarium. For the perfect view of the city, head to Harukas 300; an observation deck and bar known for being the tallest skyscraper in Japan.

Kyoto

This magical and ancient city has so many highlights that it’s hard to find a symbol to represent it. From the world-famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove to the hundreds of red gates at Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kyoto is every bit as fascinating as it is enchanting. To make your trip to Kyoto a memory to cherish, ask our Personal Travel Experts about spending the evening in the presence of a Geisha; an esteemed group of highly trained Japanese women who have dedicated their lives to tradition and entertainment.

Hiroshima

With a truly devastating history, this tranquil city should be on the bucket-lists of all travellers who love visiting art galleries and museums. The symbol of Hiroshima is arguably the Atomic Bomb Dome; the only structure within the area to withstand the blast of the atomic bomb which initiated the end of World War Two. However, despite the incredible damage caused, Hiroshima is a bustling city with plenty to see and do, such as; visiting the city’s many shopping malls, taking a stroll through the stunning Shukkeien Japanese Garden and visiting Hiroshima Castle.
